Hello/Intro HealthReturn to index of stories... |
Hello. I'm Beth Carroll. Welcome to New Hampshire Outlook. As the cost of health insurance for consumers and employers across the country continues to rise there's a new report offering a blueprint for New Hampshire's health care system. The Endowment for Health-- a non-profit foundation based in Concord-- has released the final report of the "Pillars Project." In 2004, the Endowment charged a group of citizens, health care providers and community leaders with studying New Hampshire's health care system and offering recommendations to improve it. Richard Ager sat down with Doctor Jim Squires, the President of the Endowment for Health, to learn more about the roadmap for change. |

Since we spoke to Doctor Squires, he has been named as co-chair of Governor Lynch's new health care task force looking at improving public health and medical care in the state. Meantime, New Hampshire’s leading healthcare organizations have joined the "Partnership for Prescription Assistance" -- a new nationwide initiative to help low-income, uninsured residents get free or discounted brand-name medicines. There is a new clearinghouse website to help patients find the assistance program that's right for them. For a link, log on to our website, nhptv.org/outlook. |
Intro Zydeco ShoesReturn to index of stories... |
A trip to New Orleans 8-years ago -- has turned into a cookbook with a twist for a Stratham woman. Alexandria Hayes is out with "Zydeco Shoes: A Sensory Tour of Cajun Culture." The new book includes a collection of vivid paintings by a self-taught artist from New Orleans. After a visit to New Orleans -- Hayes decided to use artist Earl Hebert's paintings -- depicting Cajun life in his native Louisiana -- in a cookbook with authentic Cajun recipes from a Louisiana restaurant. Hayes had some help from friend, Bob Swanson, who designed the book. Alexandria Hayes and Bob Swanson join us now to talk about the new book. Welcome! Q ALEXANDRIA: What was it about New Orleans that so captured your imagination? ** how did Earl Hebert come into the picture? |

Post Show LogReturn to index of stories... |
Monday, April 18, 2005: We started shortly after 5pm. We had one false start. The first tape -- an interview with the President of the Endowment for Health-- had some hits in the tape. We tried to fix it ahead of time but it still had some problems. The in-studio interview was pretaped earlier. This show went:30 over. We changed the slate. We taped the promo and finished by 5:45pm. Director's Log: We have a major problem with many of our master tapes having multiple hits on them. It really is getting worse. Some machines play them better than others, so it is hard to fix when they pop up whenever. Adam did a nice job with the music in the preshow and the end. The rest of the crew did a good job too. |
